Position Summary
The Activity/Recreation Manager designs, delivers, and evaluates leisure and enrichment programming to meet residents’ psychosocial, physical, intellectual, and spiritual needs, and leads volunteers and recreation staff.
Qualifications
College diploma/university degree in recreation/activation, or degree in psychology/sociology/gerontology, plus a certificate in recreation/activation. Experience working with seniors (retirement home/long-term care preferred). Leadership, organizational skills, creativity and high motivation. Ability to supervise and motivate staff, students and volunteers. Familiarity with community resources and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (asset). Computer skills including Microsoft, Yardi, and ClickUp. A valid driver’s license (as required). Must be flexible with hours, including evenings and weekends. Demonstrated experience managing a budget.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement and evaluate leisure programs to meet resident needs. Involve residents in planning, delivery and evaluation of leisure/educational/fundraising activities. Assess individual resident needs and maintain documentation of progress. Coordinate volunteer and pastoral care programs. Facilitate Residents’ Council activities where appropriate. Promote programs via calendars, newsletters, and community media. Manage departmental budget and support fundraising for resident programs. Hire, train, schedule, and supervise recreation staff/students; complete performance appraisals. Participate as an active member of interdisciplinary and management teams. Become certified, and Lead the JHSC.
Perform other duties as assigned; adhere to all policies and procedures.
Job Requirements
Police Record Check (as per RHA), including Vulnerable Sector Check. Immunization as per home policy (if applicable). TB testing.
Physical Demands
Sitting at a desk for computer work; standing during activities/events. Walking short distances and stairs. Lifting/moving items/furniture up to 50 lbs. Bending/kneeling and providing walking support to residents as required. Speaking/communicating in front of audiences for extended periods.
Risk Management & General Safety
Practices safety procedures at all times, including PPE as applicable. Reports all accidents/incidents immediately. Reports unsafe or hazardous conditions/equipment immediately. Complies with infection prevention and control techniques and procedures. Participates in Fire Safety and Mock Disaster procedures.

Pay: $53,000.00-$54,000.00 per year
