Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and organized Volunteer Coordinator to lead and manage volunteer programs within our organization. The ideal candidate will be passionate about community engagement, possess strong leadership skills, and have experience in supervising teams. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers to support our mission and initiatives. The Volunteer Coordinator will serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers, ensuring a positive experience and fostering a sense of community.
Duties
- To recruit, screen, interview, orientate and place volunteers in accordance with CAWES needs.
- To plan, organize, and implement training programs for volunteers.
- To develop on going liaison with volunteers, focusing on issues relevant to their relationship with CAWES and their involvement in CAWES activities.
- To plan and implement CAWES recognition for volunteers.
- To ensure that regular evaluations take place regarding the Volunteer Program and volunteer’s performance, particularly in house volunteers.
- To collect volunteer statistics monthly and ready for submission in monthly and annual reports to Fundraising Coordinator, Executive Director, Board, and funders.
- To participate in professional activities as required.
- To participate in and use community resources such as the Volunteer and Information Centre.
- To supervise Volunteer program.
- To supervise volunteer projects where applicable.
- To develop and maintain a base of volunteers that can be called upon to help with CAWES fundraising events.
- To determine own professional development needs and submit appropriate requests for additional training.
- To attend events, staff meetings and Fundraising Committee meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as required to maintain and/or enhance the services provided by CAWES.
- Oversees donation room operations and schedules volunteer support to maintain workflow and organization.
- Assist with the coordination of all CAWES events, including event set-up, clean-up, and scheduling of required volunteers
- Recruit, schedule, and support volunteers to ensure adequate coverage for events and programs
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with volunteers, including recognition, updates, and recruitment initiatives via email, or social media.
- Create and coordinate volunteer-related communications such as social media posts for volunteer recognition and recruitment
- Ensure the CAWES website is accurate and up to date with current volunteer opportunities, application forms, and relevant information
Experience
- Appreciate the volunteer and understand the needs and purpose of volunteering;
- Knowledge of family violence and crisis intervention;
- Previous experience in volunteer management;
- Previous experience as a volunteer;
- Must have previous experience in leadership and have demonstrated well developed management skills;
- Must have good oral and written communication skills;
- Must be able to work flexible hours;
- Ability to work in a team environment;
- Confidentiality is an absolute requirement;
- Valid driver’s license is essential;
- Cross cultural awareness an asset.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $25.67-$27.00 per hour
