Full Time Shop Assistant for Maritime Source for Sports
Maritime Source for Sports is locally owned and operated and we are looking to grow our team! We are currently seeking a Full-Time Shop Assistant to join our service shop team. This position is available immediately and offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment.
The Shop Assistant will play an important role in delivering exceptional customer service while providing equipment maintenance and repair services. Responsibilities include skate sharpening, equipment repairs, assisting customers with questions/concerns, maintaining a clean and organized service area, and supporting daily dales operations. The successful candidate will enjoy working hands-on with sports equipment and helping athletes get the most out of their gear. Training for this position will be provided.
Ultimately, the Shop Assistant's goal is to deliver a high level of service, build strong customer relationships, and help ensure every athlete leaves the store with the confidence that their equipment is game-ready.
Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service and product knowledge to athletes and families.
- Perform skate sharpening, profiling, and other hockey equipment services.
- Complete equipment repairs, and other basic maintenance tasks.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the service shop and sales floor.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent customer service.
- Maintain organized and presentable shop conditions.
- Comply with inventory control procedures.
- Remain knowledgeable on all product offerings and discuss available options.
- Build productive trust relationships with customers.
Requirements
- Passion for sports and knowledge of hockey equipment and technology.
- Previous experience in sporting goods retail, equipment servicing, or customer service is an asset.
- Experience with skate sharpening and hockey equipment repair is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to lift and move merchandise up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable standing for extended periods of time.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
