Compensation: $63,000 to $73,000 base salary + eligibility for a performance-based bonus beginning in Year 2

Our client is an established industrial equipment manufacturer based in Mississauga, ON, designing and manufacturing specialized machinery used in industrial and manufacturing environments. Their equipment combines mechanical, electrical and controls components, with solutions often adapted to meet specific customer and project requirements. The company offers a collaborative, hands-on environment where Engineering works closely with Production, Purchasing, Project Coordination and other operational teams.
Position Overview
We’re looking for a Mechanical Designer to join an experienced engineering team in Mississauga, ON. This is a strong opportunity for an early-career designer who wants to build practical machine design experience while learning from senior technical professionals.
You’ll begin by working with established equipment designs and adapting them to meet customer and project requirements, producing detailed drawings, Bills of Material and supporting documentation. As your experience grows, you’ll take ownership of your own projects, make increasingly independent design decisions and contribute to more complex and custom equipment solutions.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate has 1 to 3 years of hands-on mechanical or machine design experience involving physical machinery, equipment, assemblies or components, along with a college diploma or degree in Mechanical Design Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Technology, Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline. You should be comfortable working in AutoDesk Inventor, understand how engineering drawings translate into real-world manufacturing, and bring strong attention to detail, curiosity, organization and a genuine desire to grow technically.

What You'll Be Doing
- Design and modify industrial machinery, components and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor, primarily adapting established designs to meet customer and project requirements.
- Prepare customer approval drawings, fabrication and manufacturing drawings, Bills of Material, spare parts lists and as-built documentation.
- Follow projects through the design and manufacturing lifecycle, from initial requirements and customer approval through fabrication, production and final release.
- Work directly with Production to answer technical questions and resolve design, fit, component and manufacturing issues.
- Partner with Purchasing on component selection and substitutions, and support Parts & Service with replacement parts and other engineering requirements.
- Collaborate with Mechanical and Electrical Design, Project Coordination, Sales and other internal teams to keep projects moving effectively.
- Participate in brainstorming and development of more complex or custom equipment solutions as your technical experience grows.
- Perform quality checks and ensure drawings and documentation accurately reflect the intended and final design.
- Manage several projects at different stages while effectively prioritizing the work requiring your immediate attention.
What You'll Need
- 1 to 3 years of relevant mechanical or machine design experience is required, ideally involving industrial machinery, equipment, mechanical assemblies or components.
- A college diploma or degree in Mechanical Design Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Technology, Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline is required.
- Strong 3D CAD capability. Autodesk Inventor is required, although strong SolidWorks experience may also be considered.
- Experience working with parts, assemblies and engineering or manufacturing drawings.
- Practical understanding of dimensions, fits, tolerances and manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, sheet metal or assembly.
- Foundational knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, BOMs and technical documentation.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, initiative and willingness to learn.
- Comfortable working onsite in Mississauga, ON.
- Long-term eligibility to work in Canada.
