Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optician to join our reputable Optometry practice. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in assisting patients with selecting and fitting eyewear, providing exceptional customer service, and supporting the overall operations of the optical department. Duties
- Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on prescriptions, lifestyle needs, and personal preferences
- Take precise measurements for lens fitting, including pupillary distance and frame sizing
- Conduct basic laboratory tasks such as lens edging, mounting, and adjustments to ensure proper fit and comfort
- Educate patients on lens options, frame styles, and proper eyewear care to enhance customer satisfaction
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation using electronic health record systems.
- Support retail sales efforts by promoting eyewear products, accessories, and lens upgrades
- Ensure the optical area is clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
- Collaborate with optometrists to provide comprehensive patient care
- Manage inventory levels of frames, lenses, and supplies to ensure availability for patient needs
Experience
- Prior experience in an optical setting or laboratory environment is preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to vision care enhances communication with healthcare providers
- Experience with retail sales or sales techniques is advantageous for promoting products effectively
- Familiarity with optical equipment such as lens edgers or mounting machines is beneficial
- Experience working with electronic health records systems is a plus
- Background in retail management or supervisory roles can be valuable for leadership opportunities within the practice
