Position Summary
Spectrum Home & Family Care is hiring Casual / On-Call Health Care Aides (HCAs) and Personal Support Workers (PSWs) in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
This is a casual, on-call position providing coverage for client shifts as needed, including staff absences, vacation coverage, schedule changes, and additional client support.
Hours will vary based on client needs and staff availability. This position is ideal for someone looking to pick up additional or flexible hours while becoming part of our Medicine Hat care team.
Immediate start available.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care tasks as required
- Support clients with daily routines and activities
- Monitor client well-being and safety
- Encourage independence and healthy daily routines
- Perform light housekeeping and general tidying
- Complete laundry, dishes, and basic home organization
- Prepare simple meals and snacks
- Provide companionship, conversation, and emotional support
- Accompany clients on outings or appointments when required
- Support safe mobility and transfers as required
- Complete progress notes after each shift (mandatory)
- Follow Spectrum policies and individual client care plans
- Communicate client updates or concerns to management as required
Required Certifications & Conditions
- Registered Health Care Aide (HCA) in Alberta preferred
- Clear Criminal Record Check (must be current)
- First Aid & CPR (can be obtained upon hire)
- WHMIS 2018
- Valid Alberta driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
- Must be willing to follow fragrance-free requirements where required by the client
- Adherence to Spectrum’s confidentiality, safety, and professional conduct policies
- Ability to accept casual/on-call shifts with varying schedules
