Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Cantonese Speaking Home Support Worker to provide in-home care and assistance to clients in need of senior care, disability support, or recovery services. The ideal candidate will be fluent in Cantonese and possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those they serve. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring personalized care in their own homes.
Duties
- Assist clients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and preferences
- Administer medications accurately according to care plans and instructions
- Provide companionship and emotional support, especially for clients with dementia or hospice needs
- Perform light housekeeping tasks including cleaning and organizing living spaces
- Support clients with mobility, including heavy lifting when necessary, ensuring safety at all times
- Monitor health status and report any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals or family members
- Assist with transportation to appointments or errands as needed
- Follow care plans meticulously and document services provided
Qualifications
- Fluent in Cantonese; proficiency in English is preferred but not required
- Experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or home care is highly desirable
- Knowledge of patient care, dementia care, hospice support, and working with individuals with disabilities
- Strong caregiving skills with a compassionate and patient demeanor
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with clients
- Valid driver’s license is a plus for transportation duties
- Certification in medication administration or caregiving is advantageous but not mandatory
- Prior experience with meal preparation, cleaning, and general household tasks preferred
