Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Job Overview:
- The Senior Specialist, SCM Contracts Center supports strategic supplier contracting activities across Enbridge by drafting, reviewing, redlining, negotiating, and finalizing agreements in accordance with approved templates, legal guidance, corporate policies, and governance requirements. This role works closely with Supply Chain Management (SCM), Legal, Contract Owners, Business Units, and suppliers to facilitate the creation and negotiation of procurement-related agreements while ensuring consistent, risk-informed, compliant, and efficient contracting outcomes.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience negotiating and redlining purchasing and supply agreements for materials and equipment, including but not limited to solar, wind, rotating equipment, gas and electric infrastructure, reciprocating compression, pumps, generators, mill run pipe, distribution pipe, fittings, flanges, electrical and instrumentation components, transformers, valves, actuation systems, fabricated equipment, and utility meters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, revise, and negotiate Master Purchasing Agreements, purchase orders, and associated terms and conditions for the procurement of materials and equipment.

Review supplier redlines and develop practical, risk-informed responses using approved contract templates, fallback language, internal playbooks, and Legal guidance.

Negotiate contractual and legal terms and conditions within established risk parameters, while escalating non-standard provisions, high-risk deviations, and significant business impacts to Legal and SCM leadership as required.

Collaborate with Buyers, Category Managers, Contract Owners, Business Units, Legal, Risk, Insurance, Safety, Tax, and other stakeholders to resolve contractual issues and obtain necessary approvals prior to supplier engagement.

Document business decisions, negotiation positions, Legal advice, approved exceptions, status updates, and contract records to support governance, auditability, reporting, and historical reference.

Identify recurring contractual issues, supplier negotiation trends, template deficiencies, process inefficiencies, and opportunities to enhance contracting tools, playbooks, clause libraries, and intake processes.

Promote the consistent application of approved contract language, policies, procedures, governance frameworks, and SCM Contracts Center best practices.

Provide subject matter expertise and guidance on contract interpretation, contractual risk assessment, and Enbridge-approved negotiation positions.

Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance contracting efficiency, compliance, and stakeholder experience.
Scope and Dimension:

Independently manages complex, time-sensitive, and business-critical contracting matters that require sound judgment, stakeholder engagement, and interpretation of policies, templates, and legal guidance.

Exercises discretion in evaluating contractual risks, determining when stakeholder consultation is required, and escalating matters to Legal Counsel or senior SCM leadership.

Manages multiple agreements and negotiations simultaneously while maintaining contract accuracy, timely communication, and effective prioritization of deliverables.

Maintains detailed and accurate contract records, supporting governance, reporting, audit requirements, and organizational knowledge retention.

Has no direct people leadership responsibilities but may provide technical guidance, mentoring, training, and peer support to Contracts Center team members.
Contacts and Working Relationships:

Collaborates closely with SCM Buyers, Category Managers, Contract Owners, Business Units, Legal, Risk Management, Insurance, Safety, Tax, Supplier Management, and other internal stakeholders to support contracting activities.

Interacts directly with suppliers to clarify contract positions, negotiate acceptable terms and conditions, and facilitate timely contract execution.

Partners with Business Units to understand scope, urgency, commercial considerations, operational risks, contract value, entity requirements, and business-owned risk positions.

Coordinates with Legal on non-standard terms, significant risk exposures, joint venture considerations, entity-specific requirements, technology-related issues, privacy considerations, and matters outside approved SCM contracting parameters.
Qualifications:
Required
-
University degree, paralegal diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Minimum six (6) years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, contract management, commercial contracting, legal operations, or an in-house paralegal role involving contract drafting and redline negotiations.

Demonstrated experience negotiating purchasing and supply agreements for materials, equipment, and related procurement activities.

Strong understanding of contractual principles and risk allocation concepts, including indemnification, limitation of liability, insurance, warranties, and dispute resolution.

Ability to assess contract scope, value, risk profile, business requirements, contract strategies, and policy requirements to recommend appropriate contracting approaches.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain contractual concepts and risks to suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate documentation.

Proven ability to manage competing priorities, urgent requests, multiple negotiations, and stakeholder expectations within a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Adobe Acrobat, electronic signature platforms, and enterprise systems such as Oracle. Experience with Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) systems is considered an asset.
Preferred
-
Professional certification in contract management, commercial contracting, paralegal studies, or a related discipline (e.g., World Commerce & Contracting, IACCM, NCMA, or equivalent).

Additional experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction, engineering, and major capital project agreements.

Experience supporting contracts within utility, energy, infrastructure, industrial manufacturing, or related asset-intensive industries.
