Pre-Operational Quality Control Monitor – Food Manufacturing
We are currently looking for Pre-Operational Quality Control Monitors to join our Quality Control team on a permanent part-time basis.
The successful candidates will be responsible for conducting pre-operational inspections and verifying that production rooms, equipment, and surrounding areas meet food safety, sanitation, and quality requirements before production begins.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in food manufacturing, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, sanitation, food safety, GMP, HACCP, ATP testing, or environmental monitoring.
Overview: Reporting to the QC Manager, the Pre-Operational Quality Control Monitor will work closely with Production, Sanitation, and Quality teams to ensure production areas are properly inspected, documented, and released for production.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for reliable, detail-oriented individuals who can work independently in a fast-paced food processing environment. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices and be comfortable working during early morning hours.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily pre-operational inspections of production rooms, equipment, and surrounding areas.
- Verify that production areas and equipment have been properly cleaned and sanitized before production.
- Release production rooms for production once all pre-operational requirements have been met.
- Perform ATP swabbing/testing according to established procedures.
- Perform environmental swabbing at the required frequency.
- Ensure all samples are properly identified, collected, documented, and submitted as required.
- Complete and maintain accurate pre-operational inspection records.
- Conduct building, glass, plastic, equipment, and other physical condition inspections.
- Identify and report sanitation, food safety, quality, or facility concerns.
- Verify that corrective actions have been completed before releasing rooms for production.
- Monitor compliance with GMP, HACCP, food safety, sanitation, and company procedures.
- Immediately report any out-of-specification results or food safety concerns to the Production and Quality Control management team.
- Work closely with Production, Sanitation, and QC teams to address issues identified during inspections.
- Assist with sanitation verification and environmental monitoring programs.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records of inspections, testing, findings, and corrective actions.
- Follow all Food Safety and Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the QC Manager.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a food processing plant or food manufacturing environment is an asset.
- QC, QA, sanitation, food safety, or related experience is preferred.
- Experience with pre-operational inspections, ATP testing, environmental swabbing, or sanitation verification is an asset.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and safe food handling.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential food safety and sanitation concerns.
- Ability to accurately complete documentation and follow established procedures.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with Production, Sanitation, and Quality teams.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Able to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual with the ability to consistently work an early morning schedule.
- Must be available to work Monday to Saturday.
Schedule:
- Monday to Saturday
- 4:00 AM to 8:00 AM
- 24–26 hours per week
- Permanent part-time position
