Full Time Mental Health & Substance Use Support Worker Coordinator
Reports to: Program Manager
About Us
Peak House is a voluntary, ten-week, live-in, drug and alcohol treatment program for youth seeking freedom from problematic substance use. Our program is located in Vancouver, operated by Pacific Youth and Family Services Society, and funded by Vancouver Coastal Health Authority. We are licensed and have been in operation for over 30 years.
In this position the Full Time Mental Health & Substance Use Support Worker Coordinator gets to:
- Coordinate daily operations to ensure consistent and effective service delivery
- Act as liaison between management and staff; communicate updates and address concerns
- Support staff in client care, including guidance during escalations
- Assist with scheduling, callouts, and securing shift coverage as needed
- Monitor staff performance, attendance, and task completion; report concerns
- Ensure completion and accuracy of documentation, logs, and shift reports
- Oversee shift handovers to ensure continuity of care
- Delegate tasks and ensure accountability
- Support onboarding and mentorship of staff
- Coordinate appointments, programming, and daily activities
- Assist with medication oversight and report concerns
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment
- Monitor inventory and coordinate supply ordering
- Reconcile petty cash and report discrepancies
- Compile and submit payroll-related documentation
- Support program activities, outings, and community engagement
- Assist with hiring processes as requested
- Coordinate or attend shift coverage when required
- Report facility, safety, or program concerns
- Perform other related duties as assigned
The Perfect Candidate
- Experience working with youth facing multiple barriers
- Substance Abuse Certificate and/or Youth and Child Care Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of narrative & solution-focused counselling and/or client-centered, collaborative practices
- Excellent computer skills and knowledge
- Effective communication skills
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and evolve
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Ability to participate in a variety of physical activities
- Awareness of practices of cultural accountability, diversity and inclusion
- Self-aware, accountable, collaborative respectful team player
- Driving (company vehicle) is necessary for this position. Class 5 Driver’s license and abstract is required
What Will Really Make You Stand Out:
- Experience working in live in setting with youth with complex needs
- Knowledge of and/or experience working with mental health and drug/alcohol problems
- Lived experience and knowledge of working with youth of diverse social determinants of health relating to race, gender, sexuality, class, and abilities
- Current Level One First Aid and CPR
