We are a warm and welcoming family based in Toronto seeking a fun loving, active, responsible, caring Au Pair that speaks both English and Mandarin to support the care and development of my two healthy children (12 year old boy and 6 year old girl). This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with school-aged children, values cultural exchange, has a fun and warm personality and is comfortable contributing to a structured and active household.
Position Overview
The Au Pair will provide childcare and household management support, helping with daily routines, school schedules, and after-school activities. A key part of the role is creating a Mandarin-rich environment through natural daily interaction. As the kids are mixed the father wants to ensure the children have a basic understanding of the Chinese culture and language. The role also includes light household cleaning and personal assistant support to help keep things organized.
Responsibilities Include
- Childcare and engaging with two children through active play
- Speaking Mandarin with the children to support immersive language learning
- Assisting with school schedules, activities, and daily routines
- Helping with homework supervision and after-school structure
- Preparing simple, healthy meals and snacks for the children
- Organizing age-appropriate activities (sports, outdoor play, reading, crafts)
- Light household management and organization related to the children
- Tidying children’s spaces, laundry, and school-related organization
- Personal assistant tasks (scheduling, errands, coordination, keeping daily life running smoothly)
- Supporting a healthy, active, and structured family lifestyle
Requirements
- Fluent in in both Mandarin and English (must have)
- Experience with children (school-aged preferred)
- Early Childhood Education certification is preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered
- Responsible, trustworthy, and proactive
- Comfortable with a partial live-in family arrangement (some overnights are needed)
- Eligible to work in Canada (or willing to explore visa options)
- First Aid/CPR certification is an asset
