About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established HVAC manufacturing company in the Etobicoke area, specializing in the design and manufacturing of custom HVAC equipment and systems.
We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join their engineering team. This is a 3–6 month temporary-to-permanent opportunity through our staffing agency, with the intention of transitioning the successful candidate into a permanent position with the company.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer who enjoys working in a manufacturing environment and wants to be involved in the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems for HVAC equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems, control panels, and electrical components for HVAC equipment.
- Prepare electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control drawings, and related engineering documentation.
- Develop and review electrical designs to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.
- Select appropriate electrical components, controls, sensors, motors, drives, and other equipment.
- Work closely with mechanical engineers, project managers, production, and other departments to coordinate designs.
- Review customer specifications and project requirements and incorporate them into electrical designs.
- Support the engineering and production teams with electrical troubleshooting and design-related issues.
- Assist with the development and modification of electrical control systems.
- Review drawings and documentation for accuracy, functionality, and manufacturability.
- Provide technical support during the manufacturing, testing, and commissioning of equipment.
- Participate in design reviews and recommend improvements to electrical systems and processes.
- Assist with preparing bills of materials, component specifications, and technical documentation.
- Ensure electrical designs meet applicable Canadian electrical codes and industry standards.
- Work with suppliers and vendors when required to source electrical components and resolve technical issues.
- Maintain accurate engineering records and update drawings and documentation as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering/design, preferably within a manufacturing, HVAC, industrial equipment, or automation environment.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, controls, wiring, and control panels.
- Experience creating and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Familiarity with electrical components such as motors, VFDs, relays, contactors, sensors, breakers, PLCs, and control devices.
- Knowledge of applicable Canadian electrical codes and standards.
- Experience with electrical design software/CAD systems.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineering, production, and project teams.
Preferred Experience
- HVAC equipment or building systems experience.
- Industrial controls and automation experience.
- Experience with custom-engineered or made-to-order equipment.
- Familiarity with CSA and other applicable electrical standards.
- Experience supporting manufacturing and production teams.
What We Offer
