What you will do:
Reporting to the Manager, Community and Neighbourhood Services, in the Community Programming and Outreach Services Division, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Lead the implementation of the City of Waterloo's Cricket Strategy, providing overall project management, planning, coordination, and delivery of strategic initiatives and approved recommendations.
- Develop, review, and implement policies, procedures, and operational processes that support strategy recommendations and respond to emerging community needs, City priorities, and legislative requirements.
- Lead public engagement, consultation, and change management activities with the cricket community, community organizations, residents, and internal staff to build consensus and support successful implementation.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with sports and recreation organizations, external partners, school boards and post-secondary institutions, provincial sport organizations, and other interest-holders to advance shared goals and identify partnership opportunities.
- Coordinate and lead project implementation, working closely with staff across Recreation Programming, Parks, Facility Allocation and Booking, and other City divisions to achieve project outcomes.
- Conduct research, environmental scans, and program evaluations to identify promising practices, assess community needs, and develop recommendations for service, program, and policy improvements.
- Support the Sports and Recreation Action Plan through engagement with equity-denied communities and research into opportunities to enhance equitable access to sport and recreation through both City-led and community-led initiatives.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and briefing materials for senior leadership and Council to inform decision-making and strategic direction.
- Monitor project progress and ensure work is completed on time and aligned with departmental and corporate objectives.
- Participate in divisional and corporate initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Recreation and Leisure, Program Evaluation or Public Administration or equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- A minimum of three (3) years experience in a public sector environment leading projects.
- Knowledge of sports and recreation organizations, and in particular cricket organizations and environment in Waterloo.
- Knowledge of equity denied communities in Waterloo and ways to best engage with these communities about sports and recreation.
- Relevant experience as a project manager/implementation lead and strong project management skills required.
- Excellent research and analytical skills.
- Excellent critical thinking, system thinking, problem-solving and creative solution-development skills.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead the implementation of longer term strategies, lead and manage change, work with a wide range of community partners and across departments.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake service evaluation and make recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead project teams, including community members and representatives of community organizations.
- Demonstrated business writing skills, showing attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, conflict resolution and public relations skills.
- Demonstrated facilitation and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of public engagement strategies and methodologies.
- Experience writing program/service level policies.
- Knowledge of the municipal policy environment and municipal decision-making processes.
- Understanding of the Corporate Strategic Plan, Community Services Business Plan and Get READI strategic plan.
- Ability to present information, including options for consideration, to a wide variety of audiences.
- Strong time management and organization skills with the ability to effectively manage competing demands and conflicting priorities and issues.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships internally and externally. with a wide range of partners.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Ability and willingness to travel between worksites, as necessary, utilizing reliable, safe and efficient methods of transportation is required to perform the job.

What we will require:
- A Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the City.
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR-C and AED certifications.
- Access to reliable transportation is required to perform the job (as travel between City facilities is required).
