McElderry & Morris Law Firm is hiring a Residential & Commercial Real Estate Law Clerk to join our existing team in Guelph for a full-time position, with an immediate start. Willing to pay fair market compensation based on experience - benefits included.
Job Duties:
The job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Manage files (purchase, sale, financing, loans, etc.) from beginning to end, for both residential and commercial transactions, including drafting all documents, correspondence and reporting
- Manage mortgage transactions, including drafting all mortgage documents, correspondence with solicitors for lenders and borrowers, ensuring timely funding of mortgage and reporting
- Assisting in correcting or fixing title issues, as required
- Scheduling of appointments and attending to the delivery and receipt of closing documents and closing proceeds
- Place title insurance
- Perform electronic registrations
- Read and interpret title/writ/execution/PPSA searches and determine when off-title searches are required
- Prepare and calculate final ledgers and determine final amounts due from and owing to clients
- Communicate with clients, other law firms and financial institutions
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience working as a Law Clerk in Residential/Commercial Real Estate
- Detail-oriented, organized with strong time management skills
- Ability to work effectively with little supervision and have a high attention to detail
- Proficiency with Teraview, Stewart Assyst, Unity and the entire MS Office suite
- Perform under pressure, meet deadlines and handle multiple files
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Able to work both independently and as a member of a team
Schedule:
Day shift - generally 9 - 5 with some flexibility
