Our busy butcher shop is looking to hire butchers and meat cutters with some experience but we will also train on the job for the right individual that has at least some experience in the food industry. We are a whole animal, craft butchery shop with lots of opportunity for creative expression and customer interaction.
We are a team primarily made up of cooks and chefs. We highly value culinary experience in our shop and encourage using those skills and creativity in retail butchery.
A brief outline of the position is listed below...
- Maintaining a fresh, full, attractive display of fresh/frozen meat products.
- Assist the culinary team in their ready to eat preparations.
- Assisting customers in the selection of their meats along with assistance and guidance for the preparation of the products.
- Assisting FOH staff when needed on the deli and at the point of sale in order to maintain an efficient customer flow.
- Daily scrub down and sanitation of all processing equipment including but not limited to the band saw, cutting surfaces, grinder, cooler walls both inside and out, dry goods stores and floors. As above the daily scrub down and sanitization is a team effort and all cutting staff is responsible for the task.
- Frequent cleaning and organizing of the coolers and freezers, both display and walk in coolers and freezers.
- Calculating yields on raw products and in co-ordination with management team, determining retail prices.
- Determining by-products or underutilized products that may have a use in the kitchen to add value and increase our yields.
- Developing new value added products to address the demand for semi prepared and/or fully prepared foods that are ready to cook or ready to eat. Along with determining appropriate packaging, labeling and cooking instruction.

Pay: $24.00-$26.00 per hour
