Our Prep Cooks support the culinary team by preparing ingredients, maintaining an organized workstation, and assisting with daily food production. This role is essential to ensuring efficient kitchen operations while maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and consistency.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, dicing, and portioning food according to recipes and chef instructions.
- Assist with the preparation of salads, sauces, dressings, soups, and other menu items as assigned.
- Measure and portion ingredients to ensure consistency and minimize food waste.
- Label, date, and properly store food items following food safety and rotation procedures (FIFO).
- Maintain clean and organized prep stations, kitchen equipment, and food storage areas.
- Restock ingredients, supplies, and kitchen items throughout the shift.
- Assist line cooks and chefs with food preparation and general kitchen duties as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a Prep Cook or in a commercial kitchen is an asset but not required.
- Basic knife skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques are considered an asset.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
- Positive attitude, reliable, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Food Safe certification is an asset (or willingness to obtain, if required).
