Duties
- Safely operate Class 1 trucks for long-haul or local freight deliveries, adhering strictly to traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, pickups, and vehicle logs for compliance and reporting purposes
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to ensure vehicle reliability
- Coordinate with dispatchers and warehouse staff to plan routes efficiently and meet delivery schedules
- Assist with warehouse operations by managing freight movement, inventory checks, and equipment operation
Qualifications
- Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- 2-3 years experience in commercial driving, especially with heavy-duty trucks and freight transportation
- Skilled in forklift operation and handling various types of freight securely
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and basic automotive repair techniques
- Strong understanding of safety protocols, traffic laws, and transportation regulations
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and clients
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, loading, unloading, and standing for extended periods
