ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
These roles report to the Business Manager, Office of the President.
SUMMARY
The President’s Ambassadorial Team (PAT) is a group of outstanding Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) students employed as paid student assistants within the Office of the President. Working under the direction of the President and designated staff, Ambassadors represent KPU at official university and community events.
As an extension of the Office of the President, PAT members help strengthen relationships, enhance KPU’s visibility, and support institutional engagement. Students are uniquely positioned to serve as authentic ambassadors of KPU because they represent the university’s academic life, student experience, and learning community firsthand. The role is designed specifically for currently enrolled students who bring this lived perspective to their interactions and engagements.
Ambassadors are expected to demonstrate professionalism, maturity, and discretion, and are well-suited to students who are strong communicators, dependable, and interested in leadership, public service, and community engagement. Interested students are asked to submit a resume along with a brief statement outlining their interest in the role and highlighting the qualities, skills, and attributes they would bring to the team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Represent KPU and the Office of the President at official university and external events
Serve as a professional and engaging ambassador for KPU
Welcome and engage with guests, partners, and community members
Support event coordination, logistics, and on-site execution
Provide general administrative and event support, as required
Assist with protocol, hosting duties, and VIP engagement
Promote a positive image of KPU through all interactions
Support special initiatives and activities of the Office of the President, as assigned
TIME COMMITMENT
Variable, based on event schedules and operational needs (anticipated modest monthly commitment)
Some evening and weekend availability required
Applicants must be able to balance academic responsibilities with scheduled duties
Duration: Semester-based appointment, subject to extension based on performance and program needs
QUALIFICATIONS
Current KPU student in good academic standing (Honour Roll or equivalent preferred)
Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Interest in public speaking, community advocacy, and engagement
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
Professionalism, maturity, and sound judgment
Ability to travel between campuses and to external events
SALARY INFORMATION
Student Assistants are paid as per the following:
Less than one year of post-secondary (less than 30 credits) – BC Minimum Wage
One year of post-secondary (30-60 credits) – BC Minimum Wage plus 8%
With a post-secondary diploma or degree – BC Minimum Wage plus 21%
