Position Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical and forward-thinking Strategic Procurement Specialist to manage our complex, multi-stage supply chain. This is not a "rinse-and-repeat" purchasing role. Our products are dynamic, seasonal, and require a professional who can adapt to changing demands while maintaining a sharp attention to detail.
In this role, you won't just buy off-the-shelf items; you will oversee a multi-tiered production cycle, sourcing components that require secondary processes (such as machining, finishing, and treating) before they are production-ready. If you thrive on complex problem-solving, juggling shifting seasonal timelines, and strategically managing vendor capabilities, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Sourcing & Multi-Stage Procurement: Source and manage suppliers for raw components, as well as specialized secondary vendors (machining, coating, finishing) to ensure parts are completed to exact specifications.
- Seasonal Demand Planning: Anticipate, plan, and pivot procurement strategies based on distinct seasonal product lines and varying market demands.
- Advanced Problem-Solving: Proactively identify and resolve supply chain bottlenecks, capacity constraints at machine shops, and lead-time disruptions.
- Vendor Capacity & Relationship Management: Audit and evaluate vendor capabilities, ensuring finishing shops and manufacturers have the capacity and quality controls to meet our tight seasonal windows.
- Detail-Oriented Quality Assurance: Review technical requirements and ensure parts moving through multiple vendor hands strictly adhere to quality standards and tolerances.
- Cost & Lifecycle Optimization: Analyze total cost of ownership (TCO)—including logistics, machining, and finishing costs—to optimize margins across different product seasons.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 3–5+ years in strategic procurement, ideally within manufacturing, fabrication, or an industry handling multi-stage production.
- Critical Thinking & Adaptability: Proven ability to navigate unpredictable seasonal cycles and solve complex logistical puzzles.
- Laser-Sharp Attention to Detail: Experience reading technical requirements or coordinating parts that require precise secondary processing.
- Project Management: Strong organizational skills to track parts as they move from raw material to machining, finishing, and ultimately to our inventory.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with Katana, QBO, and HubSpot an advantage. Advanced Excel to track multi-tiered purchase orders a plus.
