Overview
We are seeking a talented and creative Cake Decorator to join our bakery team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cake design, food presentation, and delivering exceptional customer service. This role involves preparing, decorating, and packaging cakes for various occasions, ensuring each product meets high standards of quality and visual appeal. Previous experience in the food industry, particularly in bakery or restaurant settings, is preferred. The Cake Decorator will play a vital role in creating memorable desserts that delight our customers and enhance their overall experience.
Responsibilities
- Decorate cakes and baked goods according to customer specifications and company standards using various techniques and tools
- Prepare cakes for decoration by applying frosting, fondant, and other finishing touches
- Ensure all baked goods are properly packaged for sale or delivery, maintaining food safety standards
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as mixing ingredients, filling, and assembling cakes as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the decorating area and kitchen workspace
- Follow food handling and safety procedures to ensure hygiene and compliance with health regulations
- Provide excellent customer service by discussing cake options, taking custom orders, and addressing customer inquiries
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of orders during busy periods
Qualifications
- Proven experience in cake decorating or bakery food preparation is highly desirable
- Strong skills in cake decorating techniques including piping, fondant work, airbrushing, and other artistic methods
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
- Experience working in a restaurant or food service environment is a plus
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen setting while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly demeanor
- Basic kitchen experience including baking and food preparation skills is preferred
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift lightweight supplies as needed
