The Role
The Director of Finance is a senior operational finance leader responsible for managing Parklane’s day-to-day financial operations, reporting, compliance, financial modeling, and team leadership across Canadian and US entities.
Reporting to the Vice President of Finance & Legal, this role ensures accurate financial reporting, disciplined controls, KPI monitoring, and robust financial planning infrastructure to support profitable growth.
This is both a hands-on and leadership-oriented position requiring strong technical accounting expertise, operational understanding, and the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
1. Financial Reporting & Controls
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for Canadian (ASPE) and US (US GAAP) entities
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial statements
- Maintain and enhance internal controls, policies, and financial governance procedures
- Lead coordination of annual review engagement and act as primary liaison with external accounting firms
- Ensure compliance with CRA, IRS, and applicable state and provincial tax authorities
- Monitor and enforce risk management policies and financial controls
2. Operational Finance & Performance Management
- Partner with Production, Project Management, Sales, Engineering, and Purchasing leaders to ensure financial visibility into operations
- Monitor project costing accuracy, inventory integrity, and margin performance
- Lead monthly financial review meetings and variance analysis with department leaders
- Develop, refine, and report on departmental and company-wide KPIs aligned with strategic objectives
- Ensure alignment between operational systems, ERP data, and financial reporting
- Identify opportunities to improve margin performance, cost discipline, and reporting transparency
- Partner with Project Management and Production teams to ensure accurate financial reporting of project performance and integrity of margin data
3. Financial Planning, Modeling & Cash Management
- Develop, maintain, and continuously enhance integrated three-statement financial models (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow) for Canadian and US entities
- Prepare and manage rolling short-term and long-term cash flow forecasts to ensure proactive liquidity planning and capital readiness
- Model working capital requirements to support rapid growth, project-based revenue cycles, and cross-border operations
- Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department leaders and consolidate into a company-wide financial plan
- Prepare quarterly forecasts and detailed variance analysis with actionable recommendations
- Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses related to revenue growth, cost structure, capital investments, hiring plans, and market fluctuations
- Provide decision-support modeling for senior leadership to evaluate operational changes, pricing strategies, equipment purchases, and expansion initiatives
- Support treasury optimization initiatives and recommend strategies to improve cash yield and capital efficiency
- Ensure integrity and consistency between financial models and underlying accounting and ERP data
4. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and mentor Accounting and Finance
- Establish departmental KPIs and performance objectives aligned with company goals
- Conduct performance reviews and support professional development
- Ensure cross-training and continuity within the finance function
- Foster a proactive, solutions-oriented, and accountable finance culture
- Ensure the finance team transitions from reactive reporting to proactive financial management
5. Systems & Process Improvement
- Develop strong cross-departmental understanding of workflows and operational processes
- Drive continuous process improvements to enhance accuracy, transparency, and efficiency
- Support ERP optimization and system enhancements
- Collaborate with the Vice President of Finance on long-term financial systems strategy
- Ensure scalable financial infrastructure to support continued North American expansion
6. Banking & External Relationships
- Maintain positive relationships with lenders and credit providers
- Ensure covenant compliance and timely reporting
- Support funding applications and financing initiatives as required
- Coordinate with tax advisors and professional service providers
Assist in due diligence support for strategic growth initiatives as directed by the Vice President of Finance.
Qualifications & Experience
- CPA designation (required)
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance
- Experience in a project-based, construction, engineering, or manufacturing environment preferred
- Strong knowledge of Canadian (ASPE) and US (US GAAP) reporting environments
- Excellent financial modeling capabilities, including integrated three-statement modeling and cash flow forecasting
- Advanced Excel skills (or equivalent financial modeling tools) with demonstrated ability to build and maintain complex financial models
- Experience leading budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes
- Strong understanding of working capital management in a growth-oriented organization
- Proven experience managing and developing Accounting, Finance, and Administrative staff
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to clearly present financial information to operational and executive leaders
- Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

Pay: $130,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
