705 Handyman is a growing home improvement and property maintenance company serving homeowners and businesses throughout Simcoe County. We take pride in delivering professional, high-quality workmanship while building lasting relationships with our clients.
We’re currently looking for a reliable and motivated Handyman Apprentice / Skilled Labourer to join our growing team. This is a hands-on position for someone with construction or trades experience who is looking to build their skills and take on a variety of residential and commercial projects.
Position Overview
The ideal candidate has experience in construction, renovations, property maintenance, or a related trade and is comfortable learning new skills on the job.
We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, shows up reliably, works well independently, and is motivated to get the job done properly. You don’t need to be an expert in every trade — we’re looking for someone with a good foundation of practical skills who is willing to learn and develop.
Experience in the following trades is considered an asset:
- Carpentry
- Drywall installation and repairs
- Roofing
- Concrete repairs and finishing
- Landscaping
- General renovations and maintenance
Candidates are not required to have experience in every trade listed above.
Responsibilities
- Assist with residential and commercial repair, maintenance, and renovation projects
- Complete skilled labour and general construction tasks
- Learn and develop new construction and handyman skills
- Follow project plans, work orders, and instructions
- Work independently or alongside a small crew of 2–3 team members
- Communicate professionally with clients when required
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Work efficiently and help complete projects on schedule
- Represent the company professionally at all times
Requirements
- Previous experience in construction, renovations, landscaping, maintenance, or a related trade
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Ability to work independently and stay motivated with minimal supervision
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Comfortable travelling throughout Barrie and Simcoe County
- Comfortable working at heights of 20–40 feet, including ladders, roofs, and elevated work areas
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat and winter conditions
- Ability to pass a criminal record background check
- Willingness to occasionally work extended hours when required
