Duties
- Conduct comprehensive security analysis to identify vulnerabilities within network infrastructure, operating systems, and applications using tools like SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) systems such as Splunk or SolarWinds.
- Monitor network traffic and system logs to detect suspicious activities, potential breaches, or policy violations, utilizing advanced network monitoring tools and protocols.
- Respond promptly to security incidents by executing incident response procedures, investigating root causes, and coordinating remediation efforts across teams.
- Maintain and enhance security controls including firewalls (Cisco ASA), VPNs, IDS/IPS systems, and access management solutions such as Cisco ISE or LDAP.
- Perform vulnerability research and assessments based on industry standards like ISO 27001/27002, PCI DSS, and COBIT frameworks to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
- Support system administration tasks on various operating systems including Windows, Linux (CentOS), Solaris, macOS, and Android/iOS environments.
- Collaborate within Agile development teams to embed security into the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) using DevOps practices like CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Jenkins.
Skills
- Strong understanding of computer networking concepts including TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), DNS, DHCP, NAT, MPLS, WAN/LAN architecture.
- Proficiency with network security tools such as Nmap for scanning, Fiddler for traffic analysis, and network management platforms.
- Experience with cloud computing environments like AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure—familiarity with cloud architecture and infrastructure security best practices.
- Knowledge of encryption techniques including PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), SSL/TLS protocols for securing data in transit and at rest.
- Expertise in cybersecurity principles such as high availability configurations, disaster recovery planning, load balancing solutions, and system hardening techniques.
- Familiarity with scripting languages like Python, Bash (Unix shell scripting), PowerShell for automation of routine tasks and vulnerability research.
- Ability to interpret network protocols such as TCP/IP, SOAP APIs for secure communications across diverse platforms.
- Experience with vulnerability research methodologies and tools like Nmap or Nessus to identify weaknesses proactively.
- Strong understanding of identity & access management principles including Active Directory integration and LDAP configurations.
- Knowledge of compliance standards such as ISO 27001/27002/27000 series and PCI DSS requirements for data protection.
