Position Description
The Greenhouse Farm Property Supervisor is responsible for coordinating, assigning, and supervising the work of greenhouse employees engaged in crop work, harvesting, property hygiene and upkeep, and general farm operations. The position can include overseeing daily greenhouse activities, monitoring crop health, supporting product transportation to the packinghouses, and maintaining farm property compliance standards in accordance with workplace safety and food safety requirements.
Reporting to the management team, the supervisor provides leadership and direction while participating in operational activities as required. This position requires supervision of infrastructure maintenance, equipment, and supplies and includes the production site, farm property, packinghouses, worker housing, equipment, facility hygiene, and property upkeep.
Candidates must be able to work 40-60 hours per week, effectively prioritize multiple priorities, possess a sound understanding of commercial greenhouse operations, work in hot conditions, and work outdoors when required. The wage includes a possible bonus based on performance.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Supervision of greenhouse workers and quality control
- Monitor crop health and production standards
- Support product transportation to the packhouses
- Maintaining farm property and hygiene standards, including the health and safety of Temporary Foreign Workers
- Participate in the implementation of company-wide safe work procedures
- Assist in greenhouse tasks such as pruning, twisting, or general farm labour
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of greenhouse experience
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Ability to prioritize job duties and effectively implement change
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Able to adapt to fluctuating priorities
- Have a sound understanding of a healthy greenhouse operation and identify abnormalities
- Class 5 driver’s license
- Spanish language proficiency is an asset
