Position Summary
As an Overnight Camp Counsellor, you will help create a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for young athletes aged 10–19. Your responsibilities include supervising campers, ensuring their emotional and physical well-being, leading evening routines, and supporting daily activities. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about mentorship, sports, personal development, and building meaningful connections with youth in an overnight camp setting. Assisting with on-ice team practice sessions only if necessary. This overnight leadership role includes overnight supervision with meals and accommodations provided.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support campers during daily activities and evening routines.
- Provide minor first aid when required.
- Facilitate extracurricular activities.
- Stay overnight in camp accommodations and manage camper behaviour.
- Be present on the bench during team practice times to assist with behaviour/medical situations.
- Additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Supervision
- Reports to: Coordinator, Residence (or Director, Residence when the Coordinator is unavailable).
- Provides supervision to: Campers/players.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience working with kids, preferably in a camp setting.
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Physical fitness to keep pace with young athletes.
- Critical thinking skills in various situations.
- Ability to skate/hockey background is an asset.
- Current First Aid + CPR C certification.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
