Summary
We are seeking an experienced part-time contract SR&ED Technical Writer with a strong background in the manufacturing sector to support our team over the long term. The primary responsibility in this role is uncovering, gathering, and documenting complex technical information specifically from our manufacturing clients.
Note on Workflow: Since our final written reports are produced using AI tools, your primary focus will be on leading client interviews, manufacturing-specific questioning, and data gathering.
Responsibilities
- Lead Manufacturing Interviews: Conduct structured remote interviews via Zoom or Microsoft Teams to extract precise technical details of complex manufacturing R&D projects.
- Identify Manufacturing SR&ED Eligibility: Ask targeted engineering and shop-floor questions to uncover technological advancements, uncertainties, and systematic investigations within production environments.
- Technical Information Gathering: Gather, package, and organize manufacturing data, process metrics, and trial results to feed cleanly into our AI report-generation tools. [1, 2, 3]
- Collaborate Independently: Work autonomously from your home office to manage your pipeline of manufacturing claims and meet strict filing deadlines.
Qualifications
- SR&ED Program Knowledge: Clear understanding of the Canadian SR&ED program criteria
- Manufacturing Expertise: A strong, practical understanding of advanced manufacturing processes, production environments, and the Canadian manufacturing sector is mandatory.
- Communication: Fluent in English with excellent verbal, written, and technical communication skills.
- Interview Experience: Proven track record of conducting productive, structured, remote client interviews with engineers, plant managers, and technical heads.
- Autonomy: Ability to work independently in a part-time, ongoing remote capacity.
