Staff Plus is hiring an experienced Quality Assurance Technician for our client in the food manufacturing industry.
In this role, you will help maintain food safety and product quality throughout the manufacturing process. You will conduct production inspections, laboratory testing, environmental monitoring, GMP audits, and food safety verifications while ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with SQF, HACCP, GMP, and quality standards.
This opportunity is best suited to someone with previous quality assurance experience in food manufacturing who is detail-oriented, comfortable working on the production floor, and confident completing laboratory and quality documentation.
Pay Rate: $22.99/hr
Schedule: This position does not have a permanent fixed shift. The successful candidate must be available to work varying shifts based on production requirements.
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate laboratory activities with plant production schedules
- Calibrate laboratory equipment according to product specifications
- Conduct pre-operational inspections and sanitation swabbing
- Inspect batching stations and verify ingredients, formulations, and production processes
- Perform Critical Control Point (CCP) verifications and document compliance
- Complete bench analysis and testing on production samples
- Collect microbiological samples and coordinate shipment to external laboratories
- Perform continuous production line inspections and GMP audits
- Conduct finished product testing, sensory evaluations, and quality analysis
- Inspect incoming raw materials and review Certificates of Analysis (CoAs)
- Monitor and document batching adjustments
- Conduct environmental monitoring and cooler and freezer inspections
- Collect, organize, and manage product retention samples
- Manage product holds, releases, disposals, and rework activities
- Investigate and document non-conformance reports and customer complaints
- Complete QA documentation and prepare accurate shift reports
- Support food safety, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives
What You’ll Bring
- At least one year of experience working in a food manufacturing environment
- At least one year of experience as a Quality Assurance Technician
- College Diploma in Food Science or a related field
- Knowledge of food safety programs, GMPs, HACCP, SQF, and quality systems is an asset
- Ability to understand, interpret, calibrate, and operate laboratory equipment
- Basic computer skills and the ability to complete documentation accurately
- Strong data collection, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Able to stand and walk frequently throughout the shift
- Comfortable working in areas with varying temperatures, including heat, humidity, and cold conditions
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with high noise levels
- Able to handle food ingredients and work around common food allergens
- Comfortable working around dust, food odours, and strong scents
