We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join a consultancy in North Vancouver, British Columbia on a contract basis. This role will take ownership of core financial operations, ensure timely and accurate reporting, and support strong financial controls across the organization to allow other finance leaders to focus on infrastructural changes and ERP advancement projects. The successful candidate will work closely with operational partners and accounting staff to maintain reliable processes, support project-based financial activity, and contribute to continuous improvement within the finance function.
Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day financial activities across the full accounting cycle, ensuring records are complete, accurate, and maintained in accordance with sound accounting standards.
- Coordinate monthly and annual close activities, including preparation of financial statements, supporting schedules, and reconciliations required for reporting.
- Assess, approve, and record accounting entries such as accruals and intercompany transactions while maintaining consistency with established policies and practices.
- Oversee essential accounting operations including project-based financial tracking, payables, receivables, billing administration, and required government remittances.
- Work collaboratively with business services and operational teams to confirm project invoicing is accurate, complete, and aligned with underlying financial data.
- Provide support for payroll-related activities and perform reconciliations to help ensure accuracy and timeliness when needed.
- Offer day-to-day direction, guidance, and practical support to members of the accounting team to promote effective execution of responsibilities.
- Partner with the Controller to strengthen accounting procedures, support organizational transition activities, and identify opportunities for ongoing process improvement.
- CPA designation is required.
- Proven experience managing full-cycle accounting in a corporate services environment.
- Strong working knowledge of accounting software systems and ERP platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee general ledger activity, reconciliations, period-end close, and financial reporting.
- Experience supporting/reviewing payroll processes and related account balancing activities.
- Solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, project accounting, and billing practices.
- Strong review skills with a high level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
