S2627-01 Speech Language Therapy Assistant - Division Office
This is a full-time (1.0 fte) position commencing at the start of the 2026-2027 school year. The assignment involves serving as part of the NLPS Inclusive Education Team. This would be under the supervision of a Speech Language Therapist in collaboration with team members. The primary focus is to support our schools and classrooms with creating an inclusive environment for all students. Working collaboratively with the Speech Language Therapist, school teams and students to provide support for a range of needs that impact functioning in the classroom and to build upon the services of the Speech Language Therapist assigned to support the school team. This job will involve supporting the Speech Language Therapist with creating programming, working within the classroom environment together with a classroom team consisting of a teacher, SLP, OT and may also include educational assistants, early learning facilitators, learning consultants, other multi-disciplinary team members.
Requirements:
- Completion of Speech Language Therapy diploma from a recognized institution or equivalent training
- Minimum one year related experience including classroom based service delivery to children
- Familiarity with strategies to address different learning styles and experience with Individual Program Plans
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
Duties of the Therapy Assistant will include:
- Implementing programs/strategies with specific children and or groups of children within the classroom environment
- Develop materials related to varied programs/strategies consistent with the intervention plans delegated by the SLP
- Develop and maintain specific notes for the Speech Language Therapist regarding child progress and response to current program/strategies
- Model/discuss strategies and supports as appropriate with classroom team
- Work collaboratively with other multi-disciplinary team members to implement strategies.
- Support with administrative duties to maintain file
