SelectSeed is establishing a lodge pole pine tree seed orchard near Quesnel. Our Quesnel Seed Orchards play a vital role in our operations, producing superior seed crops that contribute to our provincial reforestation efforts.
Job Description
SelectSeed is looking for motivated, hard-working individuals to join our team for a 4 to 6 week seasonal position at our Quesnel Seed Orchards, located just 20 minutes outside of Quesnel. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in agriculture and horticulture.
Key Responsibilities:
· Herbicide Spraying: Safely applying herbicides to control unwanted vegetation and maintain a clean, healthy orchard.
· Mulching: Assisting with mulching tasks to ensure soil health and minimize weed growth.
· Weeding: Manual weeding to support establishment of the orchards.
· Lifting and Digging: Assisting with various physical tasks, including lifting and digging,
· Other General Labour Tasks: Assisting with any other orchard-related duties as required.
Qualifications:
· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
· Comfortable with physical work, including lifting and digging.
· Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
· Previous experience in agriculture or landscaping is a plus, but not required.
· Safety-conscious and able to adhere to safety protocols, especially when handling herbicides.
· Reliable transportation to and from the orchard is required, as it is located 20 minutes outside of Quesnel.
