We are currently seeking a Drafting Technologist/Technician to join our team in Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta (Edmonton preferred, but a Calgary candidate with suitable experience would be considered).
About the Role
As a Drafting Technologist/Technician, you will play a key role in transforming customer requirements, engineering calculations, and manufacturer specifications into precise technical drawings and digital blueprints using CAD software. Working closely with customers, engineers, and internal teams, you will help deliver customized industrial solutions from concept through completion.

Responsibilities
· Create Drawings: Develop detailed technical drawings, layouts, schematics, and fabrication packages based on designer notes or rough sketches.
· Use Software: Utilize computer-assisted design (CAD) software to create and maintain accurate 2D drawings and 3D models that support project execution and customer needs.
· Check Quality: Review and verify drawings for accuracy, completeness, compliance with project specifications, safety codes, and exact measurements.
· Work with Teams: Collaborate with customers, engineers, and internal departments to update plans as projects change.
· Manage Documents: Prepare and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), parts lists, material estimates, technical documentation, and final project drawing packages.
· Project Management: Support projects from handoff through completion by managing drawing revisions, tracking deliverables, coordinating project documentation, and ensuring deadlines are met.
Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
· A Diploma in Drafting Technology, Engineering Design & Drafting Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related engineering technology discipline is required.
· 3 years of relevant structural and/or mechanical drafting experience preferred.
· Registration or eligibility for registration with the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET) is considered an asset.
· CAPM or PMP designation would be considered an asset.
SKILLS
· Proficiency with CAD software and technical drafting principles.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
· Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
· Experience working with BOMs, drawing revisions, and document control.
· Knowledge of industrial, manufacturing, or mechanical systems is considered an asset.
· Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
