Job Summary
We are looking for an Electronics Designer to support the ongoing design, maintenance, improvement, and reliability of Shearwater's electronic products throughout their lifecycle. This role focuses on sustaining engineering, product improvements, failure analysis, manufacturing support, and continuous product improvement while collaborating closely with R&D.
Job Type: Onsite Monday to Friday (10200 Shellbridge Way, Richmond, BC, V6X 2W7)
Responsibilities: Key Result Areas (KRA’s):
KRA 1: Sustaining Electronics Engineering (50%)
- Support electronics engineering activities for existing products and components.
- Design and update schematics, PCB designs, and engineering documentation.
- Prototype, troubleshoot, and validate electronic circuits and embedded hardware.
- Perform simulations and support component sourcing.
- Contribute to NPI reviews and maintain DFMEA documentation.
KRA 2: Product Reliability, Testing, and Failure Analysis (50%)
- Lead failure analysis and CAPA investigations.
- Collaborate with R&D on design improvements.
- Support HALT/HAST testing, product validation, and RMA investigations.
- Analyze results and recommend design improvements.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 5+ years of Electronics/Electrical Engineering experience.
- Experience with Altium or other ECAD tools.
- Experience with DFMEA, quality systems, and engineering documentation.
- Strong analog and digital circuit design and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and similar tools.
- Knowledge of MCUs, SPI, UART, CAN, USB, ARM firmware, rechargeable batteries, and DSP.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting manufacturing and sustaining engineering.
- Eligible for PEng
- Interest in scuba diving or willingness to learn.

Salary Range:
Career Band 2: $65-100k/ year
