Job Overview
Niagara Belco Elevator Inc. is seeking a Stairlift Technical Support Technician with a strong electrical and mechanical background. This is not an IT or software support role. This position focuses on hands-on troubleshooting, diagnostics, and technical support for stairlifts / Vertical Platform Lifts and related accessibility equipment. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with electrical systems (approx. 65%) and mechanical components (approx. 35%) and has experience supporting field technicians, installers, or service teams.
Applicants with primarily IT, helpdesk, or software support backgrounds will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for stairlift systems and Vertical Platform Lifts
- Diagnose electrical issues including control boards, wiring, switches, and power supplies
- Troubleshoot mechanical components such as motors, gearboxes, rails, and drive systems
- Support field technicians with installation and service troubleshooting
- Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
- Assist with fault finding over phone/email/video with technicians on site
- Document issues, resolutions, and service recommendations
- Liaise with manufacturers when required for advanced diagnostics
Required Qualifications
- Strong electrical troubleshooting experience (low-voltage, controls, wiring)
- Mechanical aptitude (motors, moving assemblies, alignment, wear components)
- Experience with stairlifts, elevators, lifts, escalators, or similar electromechanical equipment would be considered an asset
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Comfortable supporting technicians in the field (not end-user IT support)

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
