Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Rig Welder to join our manufacturing and construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing high-quality welding and fabrication tasks in various industrial settings, including rigging, assembly, and maintenance of structural components. This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, blueprint reading, and the use of various hand and power tools. The Rig Welder plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, precision, and durability of our projects, which may involve working with ductwork, scaffolding, cranes, and other heavy equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding operations using MIG and TIG techniques to assemble and repair metal structures and components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately execute fabrication tasks.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, calipers, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other equipment to cut, shape, and assemble materials.
- Conduct rigging activities including lifting, securing loads with cranes or forklifts, and ensuring proper alignment of parts.
- Operate machining tools such as lathes or mills when necessary for component fabrication.
- Use basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and quality control checks.
- Assist with assembly processes related to manufacturing or construction projects involving ductwork or structural frameworks.
- Follow safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment during all welding and fabrication activities.
- Maintain equipment and workspace cleanliness; perform routine inspections on tools and machinery.
Skills
- Proficiency in MIG welding and TIG welding techniques for various metals.
- Strong knowledge of rigging procedures involving cranes and forklifts.
- Mechanical knowledge related to manufacturing processes and construction applications.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
- Experience with plasma cutting, press brake machines, machining tools, calipers, hand tools, power tools, and schematics.
- Familiarity with assembly processes in manufacturing or construction environments.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations essential for precision work.
- Knowledge of ductwork installation or repair is a plus.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery such as forklifts safely when required.
