Manager – Residential Services
Location: Victoria, BC
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

About the Role
Abilities Community Services is seeking an experienced and compassionate Manager to lead one of our residential programs supporting adults with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, and complex behavioural support needs.
The Manager provides leadership, coaching, and oversight to employees while ensuring high-quality, person-centred services that promote safety, dignity, inclusion, and quality of life for the individuals supported. This role is ideal for a leader who can balance empathy with accountability and remain calm and effective in complex situations.
This program supports adult males with complex mental health, behavioural, and risk-management needs. The successful candidate will be comfortable providing leadership in environments that require strong boundaries, sound judgement, crisis response skills, and a trauma-informed approach to service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and support a team of Community Support Workers.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and collaborative workplace culture.
- Ensure services are delivered in accordance with individual support plans, behaviour support plans, and organizational standards.
- Support employees through coaching, performance management, training, and professional development.
- Respond to crises, behavioural escalations, incidents, and risk management concerns.
- Build positive relationships with families, Community Living BC (CLBC), healthcare professionals, and community partners.
- Ensure compliance with CARF standards, WorkSafeBC requirements, organizational policies, and applicable legislation.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support continuous service excellence.
- Provide leadership and decision-making support through participation in the management on-call rotation.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Disability Studies, Leadership, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum two (2) years of leadership, supervisory, or management experience.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, complex behaviours, acquired brain injuries, or other vulnerable populations.
- Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with significant mental health and behavioural support needs is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support, Trauma-Informed Practice, and person-centred service delivery.
- Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
Requirements
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence and reliable transportation.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
- Ability to travel between program locations.
- Ability to participate in a management on-call rotation.

Pay: $79,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
