Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our industrial maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting heavy machinery and equipment within a manufacturing environment. This role requires strong mechanical, electrical, and technical expertise to ensure optimal operational efficiency and safety standards. The Heavy Duty Mechanic will work closely with other maintenance staff to perform routine inspections, diagnose issues, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on heavy machinery and equipment, including engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues using schematics and analysis skills
- Repair or replace defective components such as belts, bearings, motors, and wiring
- Utilize Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and CMMS software for maintenance scheduling and troubleshooting
- Conduct welding, boiler repairs, HVAC servicing, and low voltage electrical work as needed
- Read and interpret technical schematics and mechanical drawings to accurately diagnose problems
- Maintain detailed maintenance records and documentation in CMMS systems
- Assist with installation of new equipment and upgrades to existing systems
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards during all maintenance activities
- Collaborate with production teams to minimize equipment downtime and improve overall manufacturing efficiency
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or industrial maintenance technician in manufacturing settings
- Strong mechanical knowledge with expertise in industrial electrician work, HVAC systems, welding, boilers, and low voltage electrical systems
- Familiarity with schematics, analysis skills, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and CMMS software
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and mechanical drawings effectively
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on safety and efficiency
- Good communication skills in English for clear documentation and teamwork
- Customer service orientation to support internal clients within the manufacturing environment
- Relevant certifications or training in industrial maintenance or electrical work preferred
