Wire EDM & Vollmer Machine Operator
Position Summary
The Wire EDM & Vollmer Machine Operator will be responsible for preparing, inspecting, and machining components using CNC Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (Wire EDM) equipment as well as Vollmer and Fanuc CNC grinding machines while operating multiple machines simultaneously and ensuring product quality, accuracy, and compliance with company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and work orders to determine machining requirements.
- Align and accurately adjust workpieces using precision measuring instruments.
- Configure machining parameters on the machine control according to work instructions and specifications.
- Program Wire EDM toolpaths using CAD/CAM or drawing software.
- Start and monitor machining cycles to ensure optimal performance.
- Inspect and measure finished parts to verify compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.
- Complete all required production and quality documentation.
- Follow and comply with the company's Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
- Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Education
- Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) in Machining (obtained after the year 2000), or
- Attestation of Vocational Specialization (ASP) in CNC Machining, or
- Equivalent experience operating CNC machines.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Demonstrated precision, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong manual dexterity due to the fragile components being machined.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Basic knowledge of CNC machining processes and measuring instruments.
Preferred Qualifications
- College Diploma (DEC) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Excellent blueprint reading skills.
- Experience with Wire EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) equipment.
- Experience operating Vollmer and Fanuc CNC machines.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM programming software is considered an asset.
