Job Summary
The Manager of Logistics, Inventory, and Shipping will lead and optimize all logistics, inventory control, and shipping operations at our Cambridge facility. This leadership role ensures the efficient receipt of raw materials, accurate inventory management, and timely, compliant shipment of our precision machined parts worldwide.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and experienced in international shipping operations — with the ability to navigate customs, negotiate with brokers, and drive continuous process improvements
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring on-time, cost-effective delivery.
- Manage international shipments, with a strong focus on the U.S. market.
- Handle all aspects of customs clearance, broker communication, and CUSMA compliance.
- Negotiate with shipping companies and customs brokers (FedEx, DHL, UPS, etc.) for optimal rates and service.
- Coordinate the shipment of high-value and high-volume precision components.
- Maintain precise inventory records and drive continuous improvements in tracking systems.
- Collaborate with production and procurement teams to align material flow with project timelines.
- Oversee the preparation of shipping documentation, especially for international shipping.
- Lead and develop team members.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in international shipping and logistics management.
- Proficient with inventory management software and ERP systems
- Strong knowledge of CUSMA, customs, and duties.
- Proven experience coordinating shipments between Canada and the U.S.
- Excellent negotiation skills with carriers and brokers.
- Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience handling high-value shipments preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment with variable temperatures.
- Capable of standing and walking for extended periods during daily operations.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move items up to 50 lbs (23 kg) as needed.
- Comfortable with occasional use of warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, carts, forklifts – training provided if required).
- Must adhere to safety procedures and PPE requirements at all times.
