Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and appropriately credentialed Cardiac Sonographer / Technical Director to join our cardiology clinic in Kitchener.
The successful candidate will perform cardiac sonography while providing technical and administrative leadership within the cardiac diagnostic service.
The Technical Director will provide technical oversight, support and guide sonographers, ensure appropriate technical standards are maintained, and collaborate with reporting cardiologists.
Duties
- Perform high-quality cardiac ultrasound examinations
- Obtain accurate diagnostic images and cardiac measurements
- Prepare patients and explain procedures in a professional and compassionate manner
- Review relevant patient information and clinical history prior to examinations
- Maintain accurate patient and examination documentation
- Provide technical oversight for the cardiac sonography service
- Support and provide technical guidance to sonographers
- Ensure appropriate technical standards and procedures are followed
- Support the organization and administration of the cardiac diagnostic service
- Help maintain consistent quality standards across echocardiography examinations
- Coordinate technical workflow and daily operations
- Work collaboratively with sonographers and reporting cardiologists
- Ensure appropriate professional credentials and technical requirements are maintained
- Participate in required continuing education and professional development
- Maintain patient confidentiality and professional standards
- Support efficient and organized daily clinic operations
Qualifications
- Graduate of a recognized Cardiac Sonography / Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
- Appropriate professional credentials in cardiac sonography
- ARDMS or equivalent credential appropriate for the Technical Director role
- Previous professional cardiac sonography experience
- Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and echocardiographic techniques
- Strong technical knowledge and ability to maintain high-quality echocardiography standards
- Ability to provide technical leadership, oversight, and guidance to other sonographers
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Excellent communication and patient-care skills
- Ability to work effectively with sonographers, cardiologists, and administrative staff
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Commitment to applicable continuing education requirements
The Technical Director must hold the appropriate ARDMS or equivalent credential and maintain applicable continuing education requirements.
