Applicants must be available to work the following shifts:
- Monday – Thursday: 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM
- Saturday & Sunday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Weekend and evening availability is required.
Position Summary
Little Mountain Sportsplex is seeking an experienced, dependable, and energetic Short Order Line Cook to join our food service team. The successful candidate will prepare high-quality food in a fast-paced kitchen while maintaining exceptional food safety, cleanliness, and customer service standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items quickly and consistently to established standards.
- Operate grills, fryers, flat tops, ovens, and other commercial kitchen equipment safely.
- Ensure food is prepared and presented according to quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout each shift.
- Receive, rotate, and properly store food products using FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
- Monitor food inventory and notify management when supplies are running low.
- Follow all Manitoba food safety regulations and workplace health and safety procedures.
- Assist with opening and closing kitchen duties.
- Work collaboratively with other kitchen and front-of-house staff during busy service periods.
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude while providing excellent customer service.
Qualifications
Required
- Previous experience as a short order cook, line cook, or similar kitchen position.
- Valid Food Handler Certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to employment) in accordance with Manitoba food safety requirements.
- Strong understanding of safe food handling, sanitation, and temperature control.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining quality.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable transportation and punctual attendance.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs).
Preferred
- Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment.
- Experience working in sports facilities, restaurants, concessions, or high-volume kitchens.
- Current Emergency First Aid/CPR certification is considered an asset.
Manitoba Requirements
Successful applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada and comply with applicable Manitoba employment standards. Food preparation must be performed in accordance with Manitoba's food safety regulations. A recognized Food Handler Certificate is required or must be obtained before commencing food preparation duties.
