Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Flatbed Dispatcher to coordinate and manage freight shipments within our transportation operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for scheduling, tracking, and communicating with drivers and clients to ensure timely delivery of flatbed freight. This role requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and familiarity with transportation management systems and supply chain processes. The dispatcher will play a critical role in optimizing logistics efficiency while maintaining high standards of customer service.
Duties
- Coordinate and assign flatbed freight loads using Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and other relevant software such as SyteLine and AS400.
- Monitor shipments throughout the delivery process, providing real-time updates to drivers, clients, and internal teams.
- Manage shipping and receiving documentation, ensuring accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
- Communicate effectively via multi-line phone systems, maintaining professional phone etiquette with drivers, clients, and vendors.
- Analyze freight data to identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost savings.
- Maintain organized schedules for drivers, ensuring compliance with hours of service regulations.
- Assist with problem resolution related to delays, damages, or other shipment issues through clear communication and analysis skills.
- Support supply chain activities by coordinating with 3PL providers and internal departments to streamline logistics operations.
- Ensure all dispatch activities adhere to safety standards and company policies.
Experience
- Prior experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), SyteLine, AS400, or similar platforms is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of freight logistics, shipping & receiving processes, and supply chain management.
- Proven ability in data entry, analysis skills, and handling freight-related documentation accurately.
- Excellent communication skills including phone etiquette and the ability to manage multi-line phone systems efficiently.
- Demonstrated proficiency in typing and using computer software relevant to dispatching tasks.
- Experience working within a fast-paced environment that requires multitasking across various operational functions such as shipping & receiving and supply chain coordination is advantageous.
