About the Clinic
We are a new family medicine clinic opening in Quarry Park, Calgary. Four physicians will be transferring their panel of patients. We are a busy, patient-centred family medicine practice, dedicated to delivering high-quality primary care to our community. We participate in Alberta's CII/CPAR program and are seeking a dynamic and experienced Practice Manager to lead our administrative and operational functions.
Position Summary
As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will be an integral member of our interdisciplinary care team, working alongside family physicians, nurse practitioners, and medical office staff. You will support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care across the full scope of LPN practice in Alberta — from clinical assessments and medication administration to chronic disease management and patient education.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Care
- Perform patient intake assessments including vital signs, health histories, and chief complaints
- Administer medications, injections, and immunizations as ordered
- Assist with minor procedures, ear syringe, wound care, and point-of-care testing
- Monitor and document patient responses to treatment
- Prepare examination rooms and maintain equipment readiness
Patient & Family Support
- Provide patient education on medications, diagnoses, and follow-up care
- Prepare requisitions
- Support patients across all life stages, from pediatrics to geriatrics
- Respond to patient inquiries with empathy and professionalism
Team Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with physicians, practice manager, and MOAs to ensure care continuity
- Participate in team huddles, quality improvement initiatives, and clinic meetings
- Support onboarding and orientation of new team members as needed
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR system
QualificationsRequired
- Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
- Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
Preferred
- Experience in a primary care, family medicine, or community health setting
- Familiarity with ACCURO EMR.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills (reflecting Calgary's diverse community)
- Interest in chronic disease management, preventive care, or geriatrics
