The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance on a wide range of manufacturing and facility equipment. This role supports production uptime, equipment reliability, and workplace safety through effective inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement of maintenance practices.
The technician also contributes to the development of maintenance schedules and supports the management of spare parts and maintenance inventory.
Key Responsibilities
Preventative Maintenance, Scheduling & Reliability
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance activities in accordance with manufacturer specifications and internal procedures.
- Assist in developing, updating, and executing preventative maintenance schedules based on equipment criticality, operating conditions, and failure history.
- Conduct detailed inspections of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components to assess condition and identify future maintenance needs.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and enhance the preventative maintenance (PM) program.
- Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and incorporate preventative measures into maintenance schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, issues identified, corrective actions taken, and completed work orders.
Reactive Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and repair equipment failures to minimize downtime and production impact.
- Use appropriate diagnostic to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems.
- Identify issues that cannot be resolved internally and coordinate repairs with external service providers or OEMs as required.
Spare Parts & Inventory Management
- Assist in managing maintenance spare parts and consumables to ensure critical components are available when required.
- Identify critical spare parts for production and facility equipment.
- Monitor inventory levels, recommend reordering of parts, and support inventory accuracy.
- Work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to source replacement parts and components as needed.
Equipment & Systems Maintained
- CNC machinery ( lathes and mills )
- Laser cutting equipment
- Air compressors and compressed air systems
- Saws and material processing equipment
- Forklifts and material handling equipment
- Facility systems and infrastructure as required
Documentation & Systems
- Read and interpret technical documentation, including blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, manuals, and reports.
- Utilize maintenance management software to document work, track PM schedules, manage spare parts, and complete work orders.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, and potential equipment risks.
- Comply with all company health and safety policies, including WHMIS, MSDS/SDS, lockout/tagout, and safe work procedures.
- Perform work in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas and properly care for tools and shop equipment.
Other Duties & Work Conditions
- While the role is primarily day-shift, flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or extended hours may be required based on operational or emergency repair needs.
- Support general maintenance and facility-related tasks as required to support operations.
Required Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED, with 3–5 years of directly transferable maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment (engineering or technical discipline preferred).
- Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or equivalent technical training.
- Formal training or a minimum of 2 years’ experience maintaining industrial or mechanical systems.
- Working knowledge of hydraulic systems operating up to 3,000 PSI.
- Experience with air compressors and compressed air systems.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
- Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks throughout the workday.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Hands-on, self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical & Other Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
- Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment, including standing, walking, bending, and working around operating equipment.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Pay: $25.00-$40.00 per hour
