Part-Time/Full-Time Animal Control Officer
Frontenac Municipal Law Enforcement Inc. is seeking a reliable and compassionate Animal Control Officer to join our team.
This position is ideal for someone with experience handling animals and a strong commitment to public safety, customer service, and animal welfare. The successful candidate will work independently while responding to animal-related calls, assisting residents, and enforcing municipal animal control by-laws.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Experience handling dogs and other domestic animals of varying breeds, sizes, and temperaments. Previous experience in animal care, animal control, veterinary services, animal welfare, or a related field is considered an asset. Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in dynamic situations. Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions. Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s Licence with a clean driving record. Ability to pass a criminal record check. Current First Aid/CPR certification is considered an asset.
Responsibilities
- Respond to animal control complaints and service requests. Safely capture, handle, transport, and care for stray, injured, or deceased animals. Investigate and enforce municipal animal control by-laws. Educate residents on responsible pet ownership and applicable by-laws. Issue warnings, notices, and provincial offence notices when required. Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation. Return phone calls and respond to public inquiries in a professional manner. Conduct patrols within municipal parks, trails, and conservation areas. Coordinate with veterinary clinics, shelters, municipal staff, and emergency services when necessary.

- Confident handling animals in stressful or unpredictable situations. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Professional and courteous customer service. Ability to de-escalate conflicts and communicate effectively with the public. Basic computer skills and report-writing abilities.
