Job Description: Deliver on-ice hockey instruction to student-athletes in Hockey Academies based in secondary schools. You'll lead skill development sessions for groups of 20-30 co-ed hockey players aged 13-17.
This role is a great fit for self-employed coaches looking to fill out their schedule with consistent, predictable hours or for post-secondary students wanting part-time work that doesn't eat into evenings or weekends. Hours are set well in advance each term, so you can build your week around it.
Location: Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, New Westminster, Pitt Meadows & Maple Ridge
- Riverside 7:30-8:30am
- Centennial 1/2 8:30-9:30am
- SRT 8:30-9:30am
Schedule: September 2026-June 2027. Hours vary between 7:30am-3:15pm depending on the location.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead on-ice hockey instruction sessions for hockey academy athletes (ages 13-17)
- Design and deliver skill-based practices covering skating, puck skills, positional play, and game concepts for groups of 20-30
- Ensure safe technique, manage on-ice equipment, and adapt sessions to varying skill levels
Requirements:
- NCCP Coach 2 OR Development 1
- Respect in Sport - Activity Leader (valid for 5 years)
- Concussion Awareness Training Tool (CATT)
- Preference given to those with practical experience coaching or managing on-ice instruction within a hockey school, academy, or minor hockey setting
- Asset: related academic or certified background - teaching, kinesiology, personal training, or group fitness instruction
- Comfortable working with and instructing groups of teenage athletes
- Off-ice/dryland background a plus — we're always looking to hire more dryland coaches if interested
