A Quality Control Technician learns and uses specific technical knowledge related to the physical properties, applications and production of cellular concrete, to manage the quality of the product under the guidance of a Quality Control Manager. The Technician assists with, monitors and records production activities to verify adherence to quality procedures, and ensure quality requirements are satisfied.
The QC Technician reports to the Quality Control Manager as part of the Quality Control Team but works very closely with the Operations Team. The Technician must be trained by CEMATRIX Technical and Development team before conducting the duties in projects and remains in constant communication with the Quality Control Manager. Work is conducted mostly in the field, with time spent in the office or lab in between projects.
Tasks typically involve:
· Perform testing and analysis of slurry, foam, and additives to evaluate performance
· Educate and train Operations staff on quality procedures
· Manage samples, ensuring they are properly taken, stored, and shipped to the lab or other facility in the appropriate timeframe for testing
· Maintain and analyze database of Quality information
· Assemble, submit, and / or carry to the jobsite, all pertinent technical documents (ITP, QC / QA Manual etc.)
· Assemble, carry to the jobsite, and manage QC equipment, ensuring it is organized, available, maintained and stored in a clean and ready-for-use condition
· Inspect and measure project sites prior to start of the project
· Monitor quality of raw and produced materials
· Collect and review daily project reporting documents from Operations, and ensure they are accurate and complete, gather necessary information and transcribe to QC documents
· Prepare other daily project report documents (Quality Control forms etc.)
· Participate in project planning
· Assist with ordering of raw materials
Basic Requirements
· Engineering education background, or relevant engineering work experience in construction industry. Preference given to Certified Engineering Technologist (CET).
· Exceptional attention to detail
· High standard of professionalism and accountability
· Working knowledge of civil construction methods and cement / concrete
· Capable of understanding and interpreting applicable regulations, standards, and technical requirements
· Capable of understanding and interpreting drawings
· Willing to work in a team environment
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Work throughout the Greater Vancouver Area. Our shop is in Port Coquitlam.
- Class 5 driver license required.
