Location: Various Oil Sands Sites (Suncor, Syncrude, CNOOC, and CNRL) – Fort McMurray, AB
Schedule: To Be Determined (Up to 12-hour shifts)

Transportation
Local Hires: Bus transportation to and from site is available.
Non-Local Hires: Employees are responsible for their own transportation to and from camp.
Position Overview
The Civil Construction Foreman is responsible for leading field operations and ensuring crews work safely, efficiently, and productively at all times. This position is accountable for planning and coordinating daily work activities, assigning manpower and resources, and ensuring all work is completed in accordance with company policies, client requirements, permits, project schedules, and specifications.
The Civil Construction Foreman will maintain a strong safety culture, ensure quality standards are consistently met, monitor productivity, and provide leadership and mentorship to field personnel. The successful candidate will be committed to delivering projects safely, on schedule, and to the highest standard of workmanship while fostering teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct daily activities of crews of up to 15 personnel.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all company, client, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct and review Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs) and verify that appropriate controls are in place.
- Perform routine field inspections to monitor progress, identify hazards, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Lead daily toolbox meetings and safety discussions.
- Coordinate daily work plans, manpower requirements, and equipment resources.
- Ensure work is executed in accordance with client permits, work packs, project schedules, and specifications.
- Liaise with client representatives regarding work plans, project progress, and operational requirements.
- Coordinate subcontractors, operators, and support personnel to achieve daily production targets.
- Collaborate with the Safety Department to address safety concerns and support incident investigations when required.
- Prepare and submit daily reports, including manpower, production, safety, and project updates.
- Monitor productivity, workmanship, and compliance with project specifications.
- Mentor, coach, and develop employees to support workforce growth and skill development.
- Foster a positive work environment focused on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in civil construction, earthworks, or heavy equipment operations.
- Minimum 5-10 years of construction industry experience.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a satisfactory 5-year Driver's Abstract.
- CSO designation considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of civil construction, earthworks, and heavy equipment operations.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required client and site-specific orientations and certifications.
- Ability to successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing.
- Ability to successfully complete a criminal record check.
