ABOUT THE POSITION
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Painting Supervisor to join our team in Kelowna, BC.
The Painting Supervisor will oversee and coordinate residential and commercial painting projects and supervise a small painting crew. The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing daily work, coordinating with clients, managing materials and equipment, monitoring quality and productivity, and ensuring projects are completed safely and efficiently.
This is a hands-on supervisory position. The Painting Supervisor will work alongside the crew as required while also managing project coordination, client communication, scheduling, and crew activities.
MAIN DUTIES
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of a small painting crew.
- Assign tasks and responsibilities to crew members based on project requirements.
- Plan and coordinate painting projects from initial client consultation through completion.
- Meet with prospective and existing clients to discuss painting requirements, project scope, timelines, and expectations.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients.
- Identify and follow up on potential painting projects and develop new client relationships.
- Coordinate project schedules with clients and crew members.
- Communicate project requirements and expectations clearly to crew members.
- Monitor project progress and ensure work is completed according to schedule.
- Inspect ongoing and completed work to ensure company quality standards are maintained.
- Identify and correct deficiencies and quality issues.
- Coordinate paint, materials, tools, equipment, and supplies required for projects.
- Monitor material usage and minimize waste.
- Provide training, direction, and support to crew members.
- Ensure crew members follow workplace health and safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Perform painting and surface-preparation work alongside the crew when required.
- Prepare surfaces through sanding, scraping, patching, priming, caulking, and masking.
- Apply paints, primers, stains, and other coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
- Assist with color matching and maintaining consistent, high-quality finishes.
- Communicate project status, client concerns, material requirements, and other issues to management.
- Attend client meetings outside regular daytime hours when required.
- Work alongside the crew as needed to meet project deadlines and maintain quality standards.
- Perform other related supervisory and painting duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 3 years of professional painting experience.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence and reliable transportation are required.
- Strong knowledge of residential and commercial painting techniques.
- Experience with surface preparation, priming, color matching, drywall patching, and various painting applications.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate the work of a small crew.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with clients.
- Ability to work independently and make day-to-day decisions regarding projects and crew activities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work hands-on with the crew when required.
- Ability to meet with clients outside regular daytime hours when required.
- Ability to follow and enforce workplace health and safety procedures.
- Physical ability to perform painting-related duties, including standing for extended periods, climbing ladders, and handling painting materials and equipment.
- Business management skills and experience with estimating, preparing quotes, or sales are assets.
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
- Full-time, permanent employment.
- $35.25 per hour.
- 40 hours per week.
- Work will primarily be performed in Kelowna and surrounding areas.
- Occasional evening or after-hours client meetings may be required.
- The position combines crew supervision, client communication, project coordination, business development, and hands-on painting, including identifying potential painting projects and developing new client relationships.
