Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician – Commissioning Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience commissioning, testing, and validating medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical systems on large Oil & Gas Projects.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring electrical systems are installed, tested, commissioned, and energized safely while meeting project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform commissioning activities for MV and LV electrical systems.
- Test, inspect, troubleshoot, and validate electrical equipment and systems.
- Commission switchgear, transformers, MCCs, UPS systems, generators, and power distribution equipment.
- Conduct insulation resistance, continuity, point-to-point, functional, and operational testing.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and construction documents.
- Identify and resolve electrical deficiencies during commissioning.
- Complete commissioning documentation, test reports, and punch lists.
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and project teams throughout the commissioning process.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable electrical codes, project specifications, and safety requirements.
- Support system energization and project turnover.
Qualifications
- Journeyman Electrician certification (required).
- Minimum 10 years of electrical commissioning experience.
- Proven experience with MV and LV electrical systems.
- Experience on large commercial, industrial, data center, utility, mining, or oil & gas construction projects is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and technical documentation.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- NETA testing experience.
- Experience with protection relay testing.
- Experience with substations, data centers, or power generation facilities.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to travel or work rotational schedules, if required.
