Come play a key role in driving the future of business innovation in Canada. We are looking for team members with a passion for delivering industry-leading value to customers and supporting businesses in the communities where we live and work.
Role PurposeThe Technology Director is a strategic technology leader accountable for Qu’s multi-year technology roadmap and operating model, leading three functional teams — Enterprise Architecture, Platform and Security Operations, and Corporate IT — and translating business strategy into a coordinated, costed program of work. This forward-looking, execution-focused role drives digital transformation and modernization, and holds the organization to a disciplined, metrics-driven standard of delivery.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Priorities-
Own and evolve Qu’s multi-year technology roadmap and operating model, translating business strategy into a sequenced, costed portfolio across Enterprise Architecture, Platform/Security, and Corporate IT; present priorities and progress to the leadership team and board.
-
Champion digital transformation and enterprise AI adoption, evaluating emerging technologies (automation, cloud, network) for strategic fit and measurable business value.
-
Set direction for enterprise architecture and data governance, ensuring target-state standards and enterprise data quality/source-of-truth ownership are adopted consistently across the estate.
-
Own budget accountability for the technology organization — opex/capex planning, ROI tracking, and cost discipline — and lead technology due diligence for potential future M&A activity.
-
Build strategic vendor and technology partnerships, owning sourcing strategy, contract negotiation, and investment business cases for major initiatives.
Tactical and Operational Leadership-
Establish ITIL as Qu’s standard for IT service management, defining KPIs and SLAs and driving continuous service improvement across all three functions to continuously improve the employee and customer experience.
-
Provide senior oversight of security strategy, technical risk, and regulatory compliance (ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST), acting as executive escalation point for major incidents.
-
Determine strategy for customer-facing technology services incorporating network management, platform and cloud services, serving as an escalation point for any major service issues; this may transition to a different lead as the operating model evolves.
-
Lead, coach, and develop the technology organization’s leaders, building accountability, career pathing, and regular cross-functional planning forums.
-
Represent the technology function to executive leadership, customers, auditors, and regulators, and act as a trusted escalation point when priorities or resources are contested.
Required Skills and QualificationsQualifications and Experience-
Proven track record building, communicating, and executing multi-year technology roadmaps and ROI-driven business cases for executive and board audiences.
-
12+ years in progressively senior technology leadership, including 5+ years leading multiple technology functions or senior managers.
-
Deep experience embedding ITIL/service management maturity, with working knowledge of enterprise architecture, compliance, security and risk frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST).
-
Track record leading digital transformation, platform modernization, or carveout/integration programs in complex, regulated, or 24x7 environments.
-
Strong financial acumen — budget ownership, capex/opex planning, and cost management — with M&A due diligence experience an asset.
-
Strong track record developing managers, presenting to C-level executives and boards, and building organizational capability.
Education and Certifications-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree or MBA preferable.
-
ITIL certification strongly preferred; additional certifications an asset: TOGAF, CISSP/CISM, PMP, or cloud architecture certifications.
